Training FAQs

How long does the workshop last?

This is a full five-day class. Class is Monday – Friday. 8:30am – 6:00pm.

How many students are in the class?

We limit the class size to 5 to ensure personal attention and greater student participation.

Will I get hands-on experience?

Yes, we will be going to four homes to do hands on interior redesigns and home stagings. There will be ongoing instruction during the redesigns and stagings applied to the specific details of the rooms we are doing.

How are Interior Redesign and Home Staging different?

Interior Redesign is all about the homeowner; furniture and accessories are placed with consideration to their lifestyle and personal preferences by an interior redesigner. Home staging is all about the house; trying to make the strongest possible first impression on the potential home buyer is the goal of a home stager.

Do I need previous experience?

You do not need a degree or previous experience. What you need is a passion for interior design and the desire to start your own business. If you have been told time and again how well you decorate then you “have it”. That is, the talent to become a successful redesigner.

How much physical work is involved? Can I do this alone?

During class, you will be moving furniture with the help of the other students as well as with furniture sliders. Once you get out on your own, you are the one who moves the furniture. However, if you have physical limitations, some interior redesigners hire an assistant to help with the heavy work.

Will I be eligible to join ADE?

Yes. When you complete this class, you will get one year free membership in the Association of Design Education, benefiting from the organization’s newsletters, tele-seminars, webinars, mentoring teams, as well as Facebook and Pinterest presence, and many more benefits.

Do I need to work full time?

No, you can work as much or as little as you wish. You will be your our own boss, and it will be your own company. It is entirely up to you how much you will work. Some continue in another job and design/redesign/stage on the side; others have made it their full time career.

How much money can I make?

The industry average is $100 for a one-hour consultation, and $300 per room redesign. Interior design projects and staging projects vary per job. It is up to you how many redesigns and consultations you do a week.

How do I find clients?

In class we will place heavy emphasis on how to market your business successfully. We will also cover licensing, insurance, and other business related topics.

What do I need to bring to the workshop?

In addition to a desire to learn and lots of energy, we suggest you bring a camera and/or video camera. Your instruction manual and all classroom supplies will be provided with the class.
